Our firm (Adv. David Shimron and Adv. Ofek Bruck) recently represented a construction and development company that was subject to disciplinary action by the Registrar of Contractors, who held that the client’s contractor license shall be revoked for three years.
Our firm’s representation in an appeal against the decision resulted in the successful overturning of the Registrar’s decision.
Adv. Shimron argued that the Registrar’s decision was unreasonable and based on certain information that the Registrar had no authority to receive, and to take into consideration in his decision regarding the company. The appeal was successful. The Court (Appeal Committee) held that in fact such information was taken into consideration, while the Registrar was not allowed to do so, and that the punishment held by the Registrar was unreasonable considering the circumstances.
The State of Israel later appealed the judgment in front of the Administrative Court of Tel-Aviv. However, following the Judge’s comments, the State reconsidered its position, and the parties ultimately reached a settlement.
